Sophi.io is INMA Global Media Awards Finalist
Sophi’s automated print solution with Naviga was nominated for Best Innovation in Newsroom Transformation for its work automating print laydown for Agderposten.
The International News Media Association (INMA) today announced Sophi.io as a finalist in their 2022 INMA Global Media Awards in the category of Best Innovation in Newsroom Transformation. The Global Media Awards received 854 entries from 252 news brands in 46 countries.
Agderposten, a Norwegian daily newspaper, needed to make their lengthy print process quicker and more efficient. The Globe and Mail partnered with Naviga to create Naviga Publisher powered by Sophi.io, an automated print laydown solution that produces camera-ready pages that look and feel like they were created by experienced designers and editors – but are actually autonomously built with automation powered by artificial intelligence. Publisher ultimately gave Agderposten a “Print My Newspaper” button and realized a 66% reduction in time and resources – lowering their cost of producing the printed newspaper and reassigning journalists to creating digital content rather than operating InDesign.
“With Naviga Publisher and Sophi, creating an entire layout for 44-50 pages takes just minutes, which potentially gives content producers more time to work on their articles before having to go to layout,” said Agderposten CEO Øyvind Klausen. He said that he expected cost savings and efficiency would continue to increase as more of Agderposten’s pages were automated and more of its newspapers implemented Naviga Publisher powered by Sophi.io.
